Excellent Value For Money

I'm a person who enjoys gadgets and on the whole pay a premium for the known brands. On this occasion i decided to opt for this phone after reading some reviews. Here is my list of pro's & con's .. I have only had it for 5 days thoughPRO'S 1. Decent build quality 7/10 - Mainly plastic, but a tough plastic.. not flimsy 2. The screen is very crisp indeed (i watched a few movies and was very impressed) 3. Sound Quality is Great via headphones .. (via the speaker, it is very clear but not as loud on full volume as my previous phones - Galaxy S3) 4. Quad core and pretty responsive. The Benchmark for this phone is approx 13,000 which is equivalent to a HTC One X, the S3 is approx 17,000 and the S4 24,000 (which is currently the highest) note this phone is almost 1/3 of the price of the S4 though 5. Video quality is clear though it does struggle with fast movements as it takes a second to focus. 6. Running 4.2.1 - Jelly Bean 7. Camera - I'm not usually a fan of camera on phones as I have an SLR .. but i have to say the picture quality that this phone produces is very good indeed. 8. All my apps are available as per google play and work very well with the phoneCON'S 1. I don't believe the screen is Gorilla Glass so be careful as it will scratch. 2. Accessories will be hard to find, i'm still trying to hunt down a case for it. 3. Microphone when doing videos... the playback has a small background hum and the clarity is average. 4. GPS .. My GPS didn't work .. then a mate told me to use GPSFix .. an app via google play. after calibrating my GPS now works :-))... not really a big Con now, but something you should be aware of. I'm thinking it was calibrated to Chinese satellites out of the box. 5. There are numerous Chinese apps. Most can be un-installed, the ones that can not (approx 5) can be disabled. There was one Chinese version of Google Search that i couldn't get off my screen. 6. The launcher with the phone is pretty poor, i couldn't even create a folder on the desktop. To overcome this and the above Con i installed a different launcher. e.g. AWD Launcher. This is far better. 7. The phone has 1GB RAM, but you can't get to a task manager without installing a app from google play. Not sure why.. on normal versions of Jelly bean you keep your finger down on a button and a pie chart is shown.Overall, the Pro's certainly out weigh the Con's ..especially as most Con's have a work around. I'm going to look for an English version of ROM for this phone that runs Jelly Bean. If I'm successful I'll update this review on how to do it.Unless you have a DOA (dead on arrival) phone, i think you'll be very happy with this.PS.. if anyone finds a compatible case, let me know :-) .. I wasn't expecting much when I ordered this phone, being an iPhone and xperia owner.But I tell you what sod them I'm buying these from now on they are fantastic, OK a bit plastiky but everything else is on par with the best if not better.A great phone and how much! You'd be crazy not too.

The screen is great @ 720p, crisp, plays/streams HD videos very well. Youtube runs smoothly and gaming is great most of the time. No gorilla glass, but sturdy enough. I've actually enjoyed Kindle for the first time in a non Samsung Note smartphone :)No noteworthy lagging encountered even with several apps running, everything seems very responsive. Battery should last a day under reasonably heavy use (incl. wi fi). The combination of wi fi, bluetooth and a few really heavy apps usually brings this down to a respectable 8-9 hrs. You also get a free second battery with the phone :)The front camera is more or less ok @ 2MP, but the back camera is certainly not as advertised. Instead of 12MP, I'd say it is between 6-8 MP, but still good enough for almost anything (if you are looking for high-end cameras, you should probably get a Sony Xperia anyway!).Rooting was very easy (always use the latest MTK drivers only!).Mostly plastic, minimal design but actually seems kind of cute once you get used to it. All in all a nice package with lots of CPU power and a nice screen. Plug in a 32GB class 10 micro sd card and let the games begin :)
