S4 Mini

I have turned down Apple products a long time ago when I bought my first Galaxy Tab and I immediately appreciated the superiority of the Android platform. Therefore, when it came time to buy a new phone it seemed natural to go for a Samsung. However, I thought the S4 was a bit too big to sit in my pocket comfortably as a portable phone should....good job Samsung releasing the S4 Mini at the same time I started looking for an upgrade! I bought the Mini from Clove as it made the phone available about 10 days earlier than Amazon, however I paid it 16£ dearer. Thumbs up Amazon for selling it this cheap! Anyway, the phone is great. Fantastic design, battery is replaceable, camera is ok although in my opinion it'll never replace a proper camera no matter how many pixels it has, OS is very good (nothing new there if you already use Android), shame for the usual useless bloatware (which you can disable but not uninstall), GPS works perfectly, cpu is fast, screen looks really good, 8gb is more than enough as new apps can be moved to micro sd (buy separately and up to 64gb). It doesn't seem to have USB host capabilities, not a huge issue for me but could affect some. All-in-all it's an excellent phone! 5 stars for me on price, design, performance and look.

I upgraded from a Samsung S2 to this. Do not be fooled into thinking just because this phone is called a mini it is inferior to its bigger brother the S4. Yes there are a few features missing but it more than makes up for it for the features that are included.Like the S4 it has smart screen features and also has S Translator which can come in handy.The screen is very sharp and the clarity when viewing photos is superb. When you use the Facebook app again it is crystal clear.You can even personalize this phone to suit your every need such as font size, font style, screen lay out. You can even mute the phone just by covering it with your hand which is a great feature.For a phone that is supposed to be a mini it certainly lives up to much more than that. I am very pleased with this phone so far and have only had it two days.If there is one criticism then it must be when you use your phone for web browsing then you do have to zoom in to read text, but I had to do this on my S2 as well.I am a male and I have average size hands but the size of the phone does not pose a problem to me eitherI fully recommend this phone for anyone who can not afford the full S4, you will not be disappointed. I have it in white and it makes a change from having a phone in black and looks quite sharp and sleek in the white too.I hope my review helps you in choosing the right phone. Thanks for reading.

A first class obstacle coarse - but.

As I was due an upgrade on my phone contract I said I would treat myself to a smartphone. My "old" phone was a Nokia C2-01, a great little phone, but it was it was limited on the amount of names it could store and also limited on the amount of notes it could store, the screen was getting scratched and a better camera would be very useful. I bought this phone mainly because of it's size. After that it was on account of the great reviews it was getting, it's popularity, and also because Android was said to be the best OS to have in a phone, plus the large amount of Apps it had. That said I wasn't to bothered about a pile of useless Apps, but you never know. It's biggest selling point is it's "customizabillity" (BS) - so how could I go wrong? I thought of an Iphone but thought they could have compatibility problems with my windows OS computer, also a new OS is due out later in the year. Windows OS phones I should have looked into more. Physically the phone is fine size wise, but the back cover is very smooth and it's a narrow phone leaving it hard to grip. Also the power and volume buttons on the side of the phone are very sensitive and it's very easy and of coarse annoying to accidentally adjust the volume or to switch it off. A thicker phone would have been a better option for this phone as it would help improve grip. Battery life is fine and the camera is very good. But the biggest flaw for me was the Android OS. I said to myself it might take a while to master given that I am an Android novice. Using a phone with two hands I said I would surely get used to. But it was a nightmare straight from the off - even just to set the date and time was more like a mystery tour trying to find it. The help app wasn't even on the home page. Basically it's slow to navigate to what you want to do, given that the screen is sensitive it is very easily touch the screen and end up back to square one. The keyboard buttons are very finicky, I could go on but it's just not for me. That said if you are an Android wiz this baby is right up your street. Windows OS is said have limitations App wise but it is far easier and quicker to navigate than this overrated obstacle coarse. I have since seen them reviewed on YouTube with the reviewer using just his thumb to navigate. Nokia here we come!
