Anyway, confusion aside the 6500 classic is a stylish candy bar style handset that's very thin at 9.5mm and very light at just 94g too. It also has a massive 1Gb internal memory but this cannot be improved upon as sadly it does not feature an expansion slot. A 2 megapixel camera is standard and again rather strangely, although it's a 3G handset it does not feature a secondary camera so you cannot use it for video calling. Bluetooth, quad-band & a 16 million colour TFT display complete the line-up of the Nokia 6500 Classic.

Nice and slim

I got this phone through a 3 contract in January. I have had no issues with reliability so far and I love it.I really like the slim design, and it just slips into my front pocket. This is where it stays most of the time and it hasn't been damaged yet.As for functionality, it seems to do the things that Sony Ericssons do. Mine accesses the internet through 3, and does this okay.Its memory can't be expanded, but I've got a separate mp3 player so don't need to store much on it.The battery life is a bit short but this is due to its small size (meaning a small battery). Lasts about 2-3 days and I am a light user.I also chose a Nokia after doing extensive reaearch on the SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) values of different handsets. Nokias generally beat Sony Ericsson in this area. Although there is no conclusive evidence that a high SAR is bad for you, you might as aswell avoid the high ones if you have a choice.Update Feb 09:I have now had this over a year and it is still working very well. Still carry it in my front trouser pocket and it has not suffered any damage despite its slender frame.

OK if you want a simple small phone

I had one of these briefly before I realised it wasn't for me. The other reviewer is right that it is somewhat fragile. I doubt it would smash in normal use, but it does feel a bit plasticy so I wouldn't describe it as robust. Battery life is also an issue - even light users will need to charge it every couple of days.The good part: It is very thin and light and it looks good too. Functionality is limited, but for many that adds to its appeal as it's simple and easy to use. The girl at the t-mobile shop said she was giving up her Nokia N-95 for this because she wanted a simple and reliable phone.So overall this is a great choice if you want simplicity, minimalism, good looks and you're prepared to take care of it. It's a poor choice if you want a robust phone with more functionality. I went for the 6500 Slide - a better choice for me.

Promises much more than it delivers.

First of all this phone is very good looking. I like 'candybar' phones, as I tend to only use it for phoning and occasionally texting. The rest of the features; cameras, mobile internet browsing etc don't really interest me much. I moved from the 6300 which is a robust metal-framed workhorse to this, which is lighter and smaller, because I thought it would be an upgrade. However the upgrade was largely disappointing.First the good points:-small, tidy, good looks.Recessed screen, which helps prevent damage.Good pricing.Familiar Nokia menus1GB internal memoryBad points:-Different charger from other Nokias - mini USB rather than thick or thin pinsPoor battery lifeDodgy receptionUnreliable - both of ours have had to be replacedNo memory upgrade pathNo FM radioAll-in-all it falls well short of what I am looking for. I am absolutely delighted that an 18 month contract ends next month.Nevertheless, I still like those cool black looks, which is the only reason for me swithering between 2 and 3 stars.
