I wasn't sure whether or not to get this phone.I had the Nokia N8 and had been with Nokia for all my mobile life, but after Nokia ditched Symbian, I though that I would probably be a good idea to change to an operating system that's actually going to be around in the next few years.I didn't want to be locked down by Apple, and didn't fancy a Blackberry. So naturally Android was my only choice. I'm very please that I made that choice now.As for the hardware, it's a lot better than I expected. I obviously wasn't expecting it to be rubbish, but after the Aluminium uni-body on the Nokia N8, and seeing the build quailty on other high end phones like the iPhone, I was concerned as to if the HTC Desire's plastic would be able to compete.All I can say is it does compete. The HTC Desire feels beautiful in the hand, and it's very well sized for reaching all parts of the screen; not to mention it's a nice weight.Obviously it wouldn't stand a drop on the floor as well as an aluminium phone would, but then I'm sure we all avoid dropping our phones!In terms of the software, I really like the look of the HTC Sense UI, after researching it on the internet, and it is very good. Having the home screens is great... In fact I must say that it's a better implementation than the iOS' (I did have an iPod Touch for a while).All your data can be presented to you, by choosing widgets. Unlike the iOS where one has to scroll through pages, and locate and application and then launch it... Here it's just there waiting, wake the phone, sleep the phone that's it!The Android Notification System is paramount. It's so functional yet so un-intrusive. iOS brings up this blue box and you have to react to the notification before you can continue.The Android notification just scrolls along the top bar, and queues up the notifications for when you're ready. What I really like is how if you get a message the content of the message is scrolled along the top bar.At first, you may think that the optical track ball is superfluous, it's anything but. Navigating tricky links on websites is made easy. Scrolling through lists of music is quite nice too. Ex-Blackberry owners will probably like it the most.All in all, the HTC Desire is a great phone. Well built, good hardware and fantastic specs!What's more the Android Operating System coupled with the HTC Sense UI is amazing, and once you've got to grips with it and got it fully customised, you'll be laughing at the iPhone user swiping and messing around just to update their Facebook status.

As a university student I wanted a phone that was trendy, new but affordable. This phone fits the bill perfectly as it has all the top qualities of an iphone or a samsung s2. A lot of people complain about the low memory space available; and I would say one thing - try to transfer all your files to the memory card and you will be just fine.The touch sensitivity is fantastic and so is the screen resolution. The auto-correct systemm is fantastic although it converts slang into wierd words sometimes.On the whole I now prefer this phone over an iphone or any other android. My next phone will definitely be another HTC product.Best Bit: The HTC-Sense, makes you fall in love with this phone :)

The Desire is an incredibly advanced phone setting it ahead in its class. It has many functions - watching movies, music, documents, streaming to tv etc.White looks spectacular especially the silver trim around the screen. great design choice.
