I bought this phone for my girlfriend as her old Samsung flip phone was showing it's age and starting to malfunction. She is very pleased with this phone as she has never had a smart phone before and thinks it is really good.This phone uses Nokia's own operating system as opposed to the more common Android or Windows Phone 7. At this price though you would expect that is this is quite a cheap phone for what it can do. That said it is a good first time smart phone for those who don't want to pay £300 because they are unsure of the benefits/performance difference over the old style phones.The screen is bright and clear and importantly, reasonably sensitive so it is easy to use. It has a sliding lock button on the side to stop you pressing everything when it is in your pocket and this engages automatically after a period of inactivity. The phone can detect which way around the screen is so you can use it in either portrait or landscape mode which it switches between by just turning the phone around. The landscape orientation is good for viewing web pages (they look like they are supposed to) and typing text messages or emails. There is a keyboard which comes up for text messaging which is good and fast as you can type with two fingers at the same time to speed up the process. A number pad comes up when you want to make a phone call or you can just bring up your contacts as you would expect.There is store called OVI on the phone which allows you to download applications and games which although not on a par with Apple's apps store, is decent enough and you get some free content you can download when you first get the phone. There is a maps application included with the phone as it has onboard GPS but this isn't perhaps as accurate as you would like. You can also configure your web based email account to output to this phone so it will download your emails and allow you to view them which is an added bonus. There is also the obligatory Facebook shortcut on the top menu of the phone which opens the web page straight away which is useful if you are a social networking fan.The phone includes a 2MP camera built in which is of reasonable quality which can also do video capture as well. There is a shutter button on the side of the phone and you press it once to get the camera application open and once more to take a picture. You have liveview on the screen so you can see what you are shooting. The image quality is reasonable and there are scene modes and adjustable settings for the conditions. The phone looks and feels like a compact camera when you are taking pictures and you hold it like one. The phone also comes with a pair of head phones as it can play MP3s which you can download onto it from the web or copy from your PC onto the Micro SD card that comes with the phone.The back of this phone has a removeable cover and comes with a black and a pink cover and for male/female users which is a nice touch. The phone's battery life is good considering the size of the screen and the functions of the phone so you will not need to be recharging it every day.I would say that if you are after your first smart phone and don't want to spend hundreds of pounds on one then this is a good buy and I would recommend it.

The Nokia 5230 is amazing, it's very simple to use has a minefield of features and comes with a good price tag. I totally recommend this product to all those looking for a stylish, multifunctional mobile. The camera quality is very good and the sound quality from both speakers and headphones is exceptional.I am very satisfied and don't regret buying this smartphone at all. My only little grumble is that it has no WIFI (I knew that before I bought it). Apart from that this phone has a High Quality touch screen which is very crisp and clear and the phone is light and durable. This phone is worth EVERY penny I spent on it!! I am truly 100% satisfied!!
